Notes from the 2012 BWTA Annual Meeting:
- The 2011 awards luncheon was held at Claudia Sanders in Shelbyville, KY on Feb
18th.
- Scott Sherry announced that he will be dividing the Misc Lure Coursing classes by
height creating additional classes. Senior terrier classes will remain combined and not split by height.
- For the 2012 year, Chi racing would be added to the year end awards.
- Trial dates were set for 2012.
- Barn hunt may be modified to reflect more of a "barn" environment with the addition of
more obstacles.
- The 2012 Spring Fling will not have a Brush Hunt but expect this event to return for the
2012 NAWTC.
- Regular obedience classes will be replaced with Rally O. Judge for this class is TBD.
- Libba Hughes will confirm that there will be terrier racing at the High Hope
Steeplechase.
Notes from the 2011 BWTA Annual Meeting:
- Discussion of moving the trial site from Taylorsville to Red Orchard park in Shelbyville,
KY. Officers will tour the area and decide if it is suitable for our needs.
- Mary Anne will contact Cindi and Buddy Anderson about their intent for adding/turning
the Barn Hunt into Brush Hunt and if they were proposing adding it as a separate event or turning it into the new event replacing BH.
- Doxies and Chis racing will run before the terriers, both flats and hurdles to avoid any
confusion or missed classes by board members.
- Super GTG will be offered in the spring
- There is concern that the general rule that only terriers/dachshunds/mixes and the
Lurchers/sighthounds may compete in obedience, and only terriers/dachshunds/mixes may compete in agility has not been followed. A reminder: Other breeds are allowed to compete in agility and obedience for exhibition only with the approval of the judge. They don't compete for our ribbons.
- On a temporary basis, we will split the senior class by height for racing and GTG. May
become permanent if entries justify.
- Chris Hayden will be the trial photographer - photos will be made available for
purchase.
- Required pre-race meeting for novice race dogs and owners.
- Conformation classes may be added if owners volunteer to coordinate.
- Need coordinator for chihuahua racing.
